House Calls
Sometimes one more thing on your plate is too much. On a limited basis, Dr. Schiff brings treatment to you.
Late pregnancy, bed rest, recovery after surgery or a procedure, a newborn at home, a flare of pain that makes the drive the hardest part. There are stretches of life when the office is the wrong place to be treated, and the treatment matters more, not less.
Dr. Susan G. Schiff, A.P., DOM, has made house calls for patients across Wellington and the surrounding communities for years. They are offered on a limited basis, by appointment only, and the first step is a phone call.

Who House Calls
Are For
A house call is the same visit you would have in the office, in your own space. Dr. Schiff brings everything she needs, sets up in a quiet room, and treats you there: acupuncture, and where it fits, herbal and nutritional guidance.
Most house calls are for pregnancy and the weeks around birth. Late-term discomfort, preparation for labor, and the postpartum weeks are all easier to treat at home than to travel for. The same is true of bed rest, whether it is prescribed or simply necessary.
The other common reason is recovery. After surgery, after a fall, or in a period of illness, a home visit lets treatment continue when getting to Wellington is not realistic.
House calls are limited by geography and by the clinic schedule, so they are arranged case by case. Call or text and tell us what is going on, and we will tell you honestly whether a home visit is the right fit.
Third-trimester discomfort, labor preparation, and the postpartum weeks, treated at home so you do not have to travel with a newborn or a full belly.
Prescribed bed rest, recovery after surgery or a procedure, and stretches of illness when a drive is out of the question.
A quiet room, a bed or a couch you can lie on, and about an hour. Dr. Schiff brings the needles and everything else.
Wellington and the surrounding communities, on a limited basis. Call or text with your address and we will confirm whether it is within reach.

A house call is arranged, not booked: one conversation first, then a visit that fits your situation.
Because home visits are limited, we ask a few questions before committing to one. It takes a phone call, and it keeps the visits available for the people who need them.
Call or Text
Tell us where you are, what you are dealing with, and why getting to the office is hard right now.
We Confirm the Fit
Dr. Schiff decides whether a home visit is the right treatment and whether your address is within reach. If not, we offer the office or a video consultation.
We Set a Time
House calls are scheduled around the clinic day, so there is less flexibility than an office visit. We find a window that works.
Prepare a Space
A quiet room and somewhere to lie down. Nothing else is needed; everything for the treatment comes with her.
The Visit
About an hour: a conversation about how you are doing, the treatment, and time to rest afterward before she leaves.
Follow-Up
Some situations need one visit; others, a short series. We plan the next step together at the end of the first.
Questions patients askbefore requesting a house call.
House calls cover Wellington and the surrounding communities on a limited basis. The honest answer depends on the day and the clinic schedule, so call or text with your address and we will tell you whether it is within reach.
House calls are priced differently from office visits because of the travel time. Call or text for current fees, and we can verify your insurance benefits beforehand through the form on our New Patient Forms page.
Yes, and pregnancy is the most common reason for one. Late-term discomfort, preparation for labor, and the postpartum weeks are all treated at home. Dr. Schiff has treated pregnant patients for over 20 years and adjusts every treatment to the trimester.
No. New patients can request a house call. Because the first visit includes a full history, plan on a little more time, and expect a phone conversation first so Dr. Schiff can decide whether a home visit is the right fit.
A quiet room where you will not be interrupted and a bed, couch, or recliner you can lie on comfortably. Dr. Schiff brings the needles, supplies, and anything else the treatment needs.
If your address is out of range or the schedule cannot fit a visit, we offer the next best thing: an office visit in Wellington, or a video consultation for herbal and nutritional treatment.
